UNAU Wins Social Media Challenge, Advancing Youth-Led Road Safety Advocacy
UNAU is proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone after emerging winner of the Social Media Challenge organized by the Global Health Advocacy Incubator during the Road Safety Advocacy Coalition Uganda‘s Strategic Digital Communication Training on Road Safety. This achievement, which came as a result of learning, innovation, and collaboration, reflects our growing commitment to harnessing digital tools to amplify advocacy and drive meaningful conversations on issues that matter most, particularly the urgent need for safer roads in Uganda.
The recognition came through the outstanding efforts of Georgine Obwana, UNAU’s Advocacy Officer, and Andrew Arnold Kalema, the Communication Officer, who ably represented throughout the challenge. Their creativity, professionalism, and passion translated the lessons from the training into compelling advocacy messages that stood out among peers, a reminder that every post, poster, and online campaign has the potential to influence change and save lives.
Road safety continues to be a pressing concern in Uganda, where thousands of lives are lost annually to road crashes, and for us, this victory reinforces the power of youth-led initiatives to tackle such challenges with fresh ideas and innovative approaches. By demonstrating how digital spaces can be transformed into platforms for public education and community mobilization, UNA UGANDA has set a strong example of how advocacy can evolve to meet people where they are. More importantly, this recognition is not only a win for us but also for the larger community of young advocates and supporters who share in the mission of building safer roads and saving lives.
It underscores that when advocacy is paired with innovation, it becomes a powerful tool to shape behavior, influence policy, and inspire collective action. As we celebrate this success, we extend gratitude to Global Health Advocacy Incubator for providing the platform and mentorship that made this achievement possible and reaffirms its commitment to continue driving awareness, partnerships, and change through digital communication.
This milestone marks a continuation of a journey toward creating safer roads in Uganda, and with every step, every message, and every advocate involved, we move closer to a future where each journey is safe and every life on the road is protected
