Supporting creativity and innovation through encouraging sciences in secondary schools

Uganda Science Education Programme (USEP) is program that aims to contribute towards efforts in science education by enabling an environment that allows creativity and innovation, but most importantly the quality of science education that empowered young people to have the necessary knowledge and motivation to make new scientific creations.

The program was launched a in 2009 and has been running a piloting project to promote quality science teaching and learning In 15 secondary schools sampled form 5 regions in Uganda.

Youth contribute towards UN Post 2015 Development Agenda

The post 2015 Development Agenda consultations aimed at creating awareness and effectively mobilizing youths in ensuring that their marginalized voices are heard and considered during the post 2015 development process.

The process conducted over the world focuses on having inputs of individuals and groups through various means availed by the UN so that in the next SDGs the whole world gets representation.

Youth of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Nakawa were mobilized to take part and give their contribution to the development of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) hosting Uganda Model-UN 2013

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Uganda Model United Nations (UMUN) 2013 will be hosted by the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) UNAU chapter.

United Nations Association of Uganda (UNAU) and United Nations Youths Association Network (UNYA-NET) have collaborated and come up with yet another much interesting idea.

In conjunction, the associations are jointly organizing UMUN 2013 and Youth Project Seminar (YPCS) conferences. The joint venture is expected to attract big numbers of youths from Uganda, its neighboring states such as Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya among others. The coalition has in turn attracted international students from Asia, USA and Europe who have shown interest to take part in the national conference.

Commemorating 50 years of African Union (AU)

The African Union (AU) was established on 26th May 2001 in Addis Ababa and launched on 9th July 2002 in South Africa to replace the Organization of African Unity (OAU). It consists of 54 African states. The only African state not in the AU is Morocco.

The most important decisions of the AU are made by the Assembly of the African Union, a semi-annual meeting of the heads of state and government of its member states. The AU's secretariat, the African Union Commission, is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Mulago chapter reaches out to the deaf

Uganda Institute of Allied Health and Management Sciences—Mulago had an outreach at school for the deaf on 26th April 2013. At the school, members offered the following; health education, carrier guidance, and clerking.

Kanyankole Portase ,Head master requested members to invite other chapters like Kololo S.S so that they can train the pupils in other projects like paper bag making other schemes that could help generate income.

The UN encourages youth all over the world to participate in the on going development of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that will succeed Millennium Development Goals (MDGS); these will run out in 2013.  A team from the UNAU Secretariat visited Kololo UN-Club to educate the members about Post 2015 Development Agenda on 3rd May.

Slum youth mobilized to contribute towards UN Post 2015 Development Agenda

The Post 2015 Development Agenda is a program by the UN conducted all over the world to identify which issues are most affecting people in the whole world, out of these the most 6 will be adopted and passed as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDGs will succeed the current on going Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that are set to expire in 2015.

UNAU sent a team to create awareness and educate the youth in the slums on ways they can contribute towards the program so that their voice can be heard. At Kamwokya recreation centre commonly known as “TC” over 50 youths consulted. Below are some of the views and issues presented while interviewing some of the community dwellers:
